Boganathar, a Shaivite Siddhar lived in Tamil Nadu during the period between 550 and 300 BC. Being a disciple of Kalangi Nathar, Bogar has attained unparalleled significance in Hindu culture with his contributions to spirituality. Palani Hills located in Vaigavur is Bogar's place of birth. Several texts and traditional literature reveal that he got his education through his mother and grandmother.

In the renowned book named Bogar 7000, the godly saint Bogar explains every detail about his life. This book also reveals that Bogar peached on achieving enlightenment when travelling to China from his birthplace, Tamil Nadu. This Siddhar has been offering blessings to his devotees in nirvikalpa Samadhi under the sanctorum of the famous Murugan temple located in Palani.

Bogar: The Multifaceted God Saint

Being an ardent follower of Saint Agasthya, Bogar taught his disciples the nuances of meditation, alchemy, yantric designs, meditation, Kriya yoga, and more at the Kathirgamam temple complex. He was the one who created the geometric patterns on the yantra using a metal plate and installed it in the Kataragama temple’s sanctorum. Bogar Siddhar was one of the first saints who travelled from India to visit the Tiruppadai Murugan in Sri Lanka.

What Makes Bogar A Superior Power?

The scriptures at Palani Murugan temple and ancient legends indicate that Bogar followed a distinct method to create an interesting mixture using nine toxic herbs called Navapashanam for creating lord Murugan’s idol. This Navapashanam Murugan idol was installed in the hill temple of Palani and is attributed to possessing miraculous disease-curing properties. Later, he also dedicated a temple to lord Muruga in the Kodailkanal region of Tamil Nadu and called it Poombarai Kuzhanthai Velappar temple. Later, Bogar Siddhar stayed in Palani Hills and attained Jeeva Samadhi. People visit his tomb in large numbers on the northwest side of Palani Hills to seek his blessings.
